What to Do if You Chip Granite

Granite in Plainfield is often used for kitchen countertops, as it is a beautiful, affordable and durable. However, accidents happen, especially in bustling kitchen full of movement and activity. For example, you may accidentally knock your morning coffee cup into the corner of your island only to result in a chip on your island. You may not think that there is anything that you can do about this unfortunate situation, but small chips can be repaired. Here are some examples of how to do so:

Super Glue

Run to your local hobby or convenience store to pick up a bottle of thick Super Glue to help reattach the piece of chipped granite. Before you attach the piece of granite, make sure that the area around the chip is clean and dry. If the chip has lightened the granite, you can use a Sharpie to darken it if your granite is dark. Only apply enough glue to fill the chip and rise a small amount over the surface of the stone.

Remove Excess Residue

Place the chipped granite back into the crevice and once it has dried, remove any excess glue by sliding a razor along the surface. This will help get rid of any excess glue that is on the countertop. This will make it smooth and unnoticeable! If you want it to be even shinier, you can use fine-grit sandpaper or a buffing compound.
