How Often Should You Clean Your Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen Cabinets Cleaning

Kitchen cabinets are crucial to every kitchen, but making sure your cabinets are spotless can be a tedious task. They are exposed to allergens, grease, oils, and most importantly, food on a constant basis, meaning that regular cleaning is necessary. As long as you form a consistent schedule to clean your cabinets, then you will avoid harmful bacteria forming on your cookware.

How Often to Clean Cabinets

When it comes to forming a schedule, it is recommended that you clean the outside of your cabinets every two weeks. Clean kitchen cabinet hardware, such as handles and knobs, is incredibly important, as these surfaces see the most contact.

For the interior of the cabinets, you should perform a deep clean session every three to five months. This will keep cookware and utensils sanitary and reduce the spread of germs throughout your home.

How to Clean Cabinet Hardware

While there are several all-purpose cleaners that can perform regular cleaning, we recommend using a gentle cleaning solution in order to not damage the cabinets. You can create your own by combining one part dish soap with two parts warm water or one part white vinegar with two parts hot water. The soap and water combination in a spray bottle can wet cabinets, and then you wipe it away with a microfiber cloth or sponge.

It is a good idea to use a toothbrush dipped in the solution in order to reach areas that a soft cloth may be unable to access. For hardened stains, baking soda can be mixed with two parts water to create a paste, and you can use a dry cloth to apply it. Once a few minutes have elapsed, gently wipe away the mixture with a damp cloth, and the stain should be removed.
